| There are two forms of Inkjet printing which apply a liquid ink solution onto the paper by propelling droplets of the colored dye or pigment based liquid solutions through a printhead. The first Inkjet technology used was the Continuous Inkjet (CIJ) process, in which a piezoelectric crystal creates an acoustic wave that breaks up the continuous jet stream of ink into droplets. The droplets then pass through an electrostatic field gaining an electric charge which allows the cartridge to deflect the newly charged droplets onto the page when necessary. The pressure inside will expand the drop of ink, to form a bubble. This large pressure increase will propel the burst bubble droplets onto the page through a directed nozzle.
